Studies on the Adsorption Characteristics of Yttrium-90 on the Various Polymers and Glass

Abstract
The adsorption characteristics of carrier-free yttrium-90 have been described. The adsorption on the surface of several kinds of plastics and glass was studied in solutions with time and various £ð£È values. As a result the adsoption reached equilibrium within 1 hour. The maximum ionic adsorption of carrier-free yttrium-90 on any kind of material tested was obserbed at pH 6¡­7£®Another type of maximum adsorption appeared at a pH value of about 8¡­9 with an increase in the concentration of sodium hydroxide. The observations were explained on the basis of ?? ionic adsorption, electrostatic and physical adsorption of £Ù(¥²) hydrolysis products, and electrostatic adsorption of radiocolloidal Y(OH)©ý, respectively. The studies include an adsorption on the surface with yttrium-90 concentrations.
