Studies on the Adsorption Characteristics of Yttrium-90 on the Various Polymers and Glass

Abstract

|
|
The adsorption characteristics of carrier-free yttrium-90 have been described. The adsorption on the surface of several kinds of plastics and glass was studied in solutions with time and various ｐＨ values. As a result the adsoption reached equilibrium within 1 hour. The maximum ionic adsorption of carrier-free yttrium-90 on any kind of material tested was obserbed at pH 6∼7．Another type of maximum adsorption appeared at a pH value of about 8∼9 with an increase in the concentration of sodium hydroxide. The observations were explained on the basis of ?? ionic adsorption, electrostatic and physical adsorption of Ｙ(Ⅲ) hydrolysis products, and electrostatic adsorption of radiocolloidal Y(OH)₃, respectively. The studies include an adsorption on the surface with yttrium-90 concentrations.
